Stealing My Work
August 31, 2008 – 12:05 pmI had a situation arise that I want to discuss. Someone purchased one of my videos and then uploaded it to some private torrent network so that people could watch it for free.
OK, OK, I get it. It’s fun to share porn with others. But, I ask that you understand something. I don’t shoot these scenes for free. They cost me money. A lot of money. Yes, the mojority of girls do these scenes for me as a way of performing something they’ve always fantasizes about. They get excited about the idea of thousands of men and couples getting off watching them perform sexual acts. BUT, a lot of them do it for the money. A lot of money. For someone to give my videos to 100 of their friends for free is …well…..technically…..stealing.
I’m not going to make a big federal case out of this. From what I hear from others it goes on all the time and is even bigger in mainstream stuff like movies and CD’s. Heck, I was at a girl’s house the other day and she was watching the new Batman movie on her laptop. I’m like “what the fuck!?!?!?!?!” She’s all hooked in to some site that shares movies for free. Brand new freaking movies.
Again, I’m not going to make a big deal out of this. I’m simply trying to appeal to your sense of right and wrong. You want to share one of my vids with a couple of your buddies, I don’t care. But, please don’t share it with hundreds or thousands of other people.
Thank you.
Steve

Yeah it sucks, unfortunately it is a fact in the online porn world. The only way to stop (slow) it is to use licensing on the files, which is a huge pain in the ass for customers.

I’m going to try using a company I found that for a monthly fee, will search for any of my stuff and then the appropriate requests to the sites or their hosts to get it removed. Pretty inexpensive actually.

Have you thought about adding DRM protection to the videos?

Don’t even know what that is but I’ll go ahead and google it.

This a problem, but in reality its what I call the 5% rule - 5% of the folks in any situation will be douche bags. Doesn’t matter what group of people you’re in.
I don’t have the patience to browse the torrent sites, so I can’t tell you. I would tell you that you should be your store on the front and back of all videos, or your website. Because there has been a few times someone has sent me a great video, it was glorious, but was response is “where can i get more?!”
you may just have to accept some of it as advertising. I’d put up a few short clips and use them as lures to your store.

Good advice. Unfortunately,on the torrent sites, they expect long videos for free. So, adding short clips would be like trying to sell a house to a begger. They ain’t got no money.
Or at least have no intentions of spending any of it.
